An Invisible Crisis

Breaking the Cycle: Scorpion Creek Ranch’s Innovative Model
for the Homelessness Crisis

Our nation faces an epic, in-our-face escalating epidemic around homelessness. As tent cities grow, so does the urgency to find real solutions.

At Scorpion Creek Ranch (SCR), we believe homeless teens deserve more than just a place to sleep. We're building an innovative, life-changing program for youth aged 14-18 that doesn’t just offer education, but emotional support, real-world skills, and a community that cares. With vocational training and therapeutic guidance, we're breaking the cycle of homelessness and empowering teens to build lives of independence and success.

HEARTH

HEALING

HORIZON

More than a Home:

SCR aims to provide homeless teens with a secure home, a warm bed, and nourishing food. More than a shelter, our Hearth is where healing begins—a place to reset, find safety, then grow.

Restoring:

Emotional and Physical Well-being

Through Trauma-Informed Care and therapeutic programs, we guide teens to overcome the wounds of their past. From equine therapy to conflict resolution, our holistic approach heals the mind and body.

Creating Futures of Independence:

We equip youth with vocational skills, hands-on learning, and emotional resilience to build thriving, independent lives. From gardening to job training, we open the door to opportunity and lasting success.

A Holistic Path for Teens Experiencing Homelessness

At Scorpion Creek Ranch, we go beyond basic shelter—we offer a path to transformation for teens experiencing homelessness. Through our immersive programs, we provide a nurturing environment where teens heal, grow, and gain the skills to build thriving futures.

Breaking the Cycle

We understand the trauma many teens face, and through Trauma-Informed Care and emotional support, we help them recover from their past. Every night, they’ll sleep in a safe, warm bed, knowing they are part of a community dedicated to their well-being and success.

Empowering Potential

Our innovative blend of therapeutic care, vocational training, and life skills development is designed to restore hope and self-sufficiency. Teens will rebuild confidence while learning practical skills, from organic farming to equine therapy, preparing them to become active contributors to their communities.

Creating Lasting Change

Our vision goes beyond managing homelessness—we aim to end it. By nurturing teens’ potential and addressing the root causes, we provide a model for nationwide adoption. We believe real change happens not just through temporary solutions, but by empowering these teens to build sustainable futures.

Be a Changemaker

Our founder’s, Katie Brown, vision for Scorpion Creek Ranch is more than a shelter—it’s about transforming society. By building a community where every teen feels valued and connected, SCR aims to break the cycle of youth homelessness. With the help of 100,000 sustaining members donating just $10 a month, we will address homelessness at its roots in Lane County and spread this transformative model nationwide. Together, we can create a future where youth homelessness is eradicated, not managed. Become a sustaining member and help us lead the way toward a brighter future for our teens—and for society.

About Scorpion Creek Ranch

Through its therapeutic and hands-on programs and its healing environment, Scorpion Creek Ranch will provide vital resources to under-served teens, helping them to reboot, rejuvenate, and redirect their spirits.

Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.”
